Over the years, STA members and members of the public, will have seen television interviews with technical analysts on commercial and business TV channels. The society has agreed to a tie-up with IG TV, where we will post editions of their Charting the Markets slot on our website www.sta-uk.org for educational purposes only – no money has changed hands!
For those who may not have come across IG, it is the UK’s number one financial spread betting site which has been going since 1975, a FTSE 250 constituent. It also provides Contracts for Difference (CFDs), stockbroking and foreign exchange to a substantial client-base. Based at 25 Dowgate Hill, London EC4R 2YA, it has sales offices and operational hubs internationally. To find out more go to: www.iggroup.com/about-ig-group
I have worked with their media team for many years and can vouch for their integrity and expertise. Run by Sara Walker, head of client engagement Europe plus, she and presenter Jeremy Naylor – plus director Dave Treweek – are ex-Bloomberg TV pros. They are joined by new recruit Victoria Scholar who this week nabbed a great interview, outside The Old Lady no less, with ex-Bank of England’s Andrew Sentance.
Our first interview is with technical analyst Patricia Elbaz, who I’m sure many of you will have seen at our monthly meetings. Starting 20 years ago as a research analyst, then FX manager for technical analysis, at Standard and Poor’s, she has been an independent technical analyst for the last decade and more recently a visiting lecturer at various universities.
Our aim with this new content is not to provide time sensitive market calls, but to give you as wide as possible an overview of analytical styles and techniques. Along the way you will hopefully pick up some presentational skills that may also come in handy. I do hope you’ll enjoy them.
