STA Summer Party

This week’s meeting was dedicated to the new MSTA’s who had recently qualified from the STA exams. It was apparent we had some excellent graduates from some of the conversations I had at the drinks portion of the evening. However,  one of the main highlights of the night was The Stop Hunter’s Stephen Hoad’s light hearted talk about the do’s and don’ts of a newbie in the markets. I especially liked the part about once joining the TA community having thick skin is essential as people look at you like your practicing magic or sorcery, I have had that a few times in my career.

It is always great to see the new starters and old faces in the same room because it reminds me of when I started at the STA. Meeting people like Nicole Elliott, Clive Lambert, Richard Adcock, Axel and Karen from Commerzbank was comparable to meeting some of my favourite musicians and the STA is one of the only places I believe you can feel welcome and rub shoulders with some of the top performers in the game.

Now we break for summer and the next meeting will be in September where we welcome the vastly experienced Trevor Neil, who will be speaking about his method of using spikes in the VIX to generate buys in the S&P.

Hope you all have a great summer!
