Regional Chapters
While the regular monthly STA meetings are held in London, there are also Chapters in Scotland and Ireland. The Scottish Chapter is currently run by Alasdair McKinnon, who organises one or two meetings a year. This Chapter has been in existence for a number of years now, though Alasdair only took over its management in 2006. The Irish Chapter is currently run by Robert Reid and recently held a very successful inaugural meeting in Dublin, attended by the Chairman of the STA, and with a talk by Nicole Elliott of Mizuho Corporate Bank. The presentation is available for download here.
Chapters are supported by the STA Board and Administration, who help with mail shots, finance and, where possible, in the provision of speakers for the meetings. Recent meetings in Scotland have included a talk on the markets by Richard Crossley, of NCB stockbrokers, a video link talk by Louise Yamada, of Louise Yamada Technical Research Advisors in the USA, and a talk by Deborah Owen of Investment Research of Cambridge, the current STA Chairman.
Previously there have been occasional Chapter meetings in other locations, notably in the Manchester area, but we are currently short of volunteers who would be prepared to organise such meetings ‘on the ground’. If you would be interested in running a Chapter in your area, please contact Katie at info@sta-uk.org.
The STA Northern Chapter
The STA is interested in promoting meetings in the North of England. If you would like to participate in these as an Associate or a Full Member of the STA please contact Katie Abberton at STA Administration Services.
